Hi 👋 I’m Shaun Ezell — a filmmaker, photographer, and dad from Southern California who’s passionate about family, storytelling, and life outdoors.

Through Alpine Tactics, I share cinematic films and honest stories about overlanding, camping, and raising a family that loves adventure. My goal isn’t just to show where we go — it’s to inspire others to get out there too, to make memories around a campfire, and to live life off the beaten path.

Where It All Began

I grew up camping in the Eastern Sierra, where my parents would take us once a year to a small campground tucked beneath the mountains.

As a kid, I loved sleeping in a tent, fishing in cold creeks, and sitting by the fire until the stars came out. Those early experiences planted the seed for everything I do now — they taught me that adventure doesn’t have to be far away to be meaningful.

Chasing Real Adventure

In my early 20s, I started camping with friends and eventually found myself standing on top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park after a 23-mile day hike.
That trip changed me — it wasn’t just about hiking or taking photos anymore. It was about the feeling of being completely alive, disconnected from everything except the trail ahead. That’s the moment I realized I wanted to spend my life chasing that feeling — and capturing it on film.

Turning Passion Into Purpose

For the past 16 years, my mission has been to create more space for this outdoor lifestyle.
Photography and filmmaking became a second career for me — one that lets me share stories that celebrate family, adventure, and the beauty of wild places.

Now with three kids of my own, I get to watch them fall in love with the same things I did — sleeping in tents, making campfires, and exploring new places.
These are the moments that define our lives, and I’m grateful to share them through Alpine Tactics.
